Jodie (born 1976 – died 2016), from Australia.
Jodie died on June 11th, 2016, at home with her family surrounding her.
She was a talented CFIDS/ME activist who blogged on the Hummingbird’s Foundation for ME on the internet as well as the author of a few books.
Her family members in Western Australia described her as “most amazing, caring, intelligent and funny” and her internet writings were read by many patients around the world.
She will be missed by her parents, whom she lived with, as well as many other family members and fellow patients. (Source: NCF member, obituary)
John B …
John (born 1934 – died 1988), lived in the UK. He was a Member of the United Kingdom’s Parliament (MP) when he collapsed and died as he was leaving the House of Commons gym in 1988 after following an exercise regime he was advised would help him with ME.
He had an 18 year career with the House of Commons, retaining his seat the year before he died with a huge majority in south Wales for a seat he first won in 1970.
Prior to that, he had served as Undersecretary in the Ministry of Defense as well as Minister of State.
He said, “Though there is a slight gradient from our house to the main road, it could have been the North face of the Eiger. I just could not get up it.” He had found any slight exertion made him worse and took him days to recover.
