Introduction …

As part of ME Awareness 2021, I am fundraising for The ME Trust UK by taking up one of their challenges.

I am going to read 10 books in 10 months and will review each one once I’ve finished it. Below you will find the review for one of the ten books that I read as part of this challenge.

Why …

I have been sick since 1984. It took till 2001 for doctors to diagnose me with ME. Initially, I was mildly sick then moderately but in recent years I’ve progressed to being severely affected. I am housebound and often bedbound for months on end.

I really want to raise awareness and to raise money to help research #endME.

I am planning on reading ten books in ten months starting 12th May, which is international ME Awareness Day. At one time in my life I could have read ten books in ten days. But this challenge will be hard for me to do.

So please please if you can support me and help raise money for the ME Trust UK

What If? by Shari Low …

After a varied career in leisure management and sales in the UK, Holland, Shanghai and Hong Kong, Shari Low has now returned to her home city of Glasgow where she lives with her husband and writes full time.

Book Synopsis … (taken from book cover, can be skipped ↴)

What If? by Shari Low ...

Carly Cooper earns a good salary, (albeit in a job she detests), thrives on girls’ nights out (when the girls can be extricated from their husbands) and has been engaged five times (no comment). But at thirty-one, and still single, she can’t help wondering if she’ll ever meet ‘The One’…Worse still, what if she already has, but was just too blind to see it? Carly decides to take control of her life and go on a mission: to hunt out her ex-fiances and re-evaluate their husband potential. It will mean quitting her job and flying to all four corners of the globe to find them. And she may come home with nothing but a suntan and a few good stories to tell her friends…But whether she gets her man or not, at least there’ll be no more ‘What ifs?’

Book Genre …

What If? falls into the Fiction, Humour, Romance, genres.

About The Book …

See above in the synopsis for additional information.

As well as the kindle edition I bought the audible version just in case I wasn’t well enough to actually read the book.

The kindle edition has 335 pages and at my reading speed a suggested reading time of 6 hours 9 minutes.

On audible it has a listening time of 10 hours 47 minutes. It is narrated by: Helen McAlpine who reads the book brilliant and her voice, voices, and accents are incredible. I loved the audio version.

The book storyline together with the narrator, Helen McAlpine, made this such an enjoyable experience. Carly, the main protagonist is great, and if she were real she’d be a real great girl to have in your friendship clan.

Why I Chose This  Book …

I chose the book because of a recommendation through my website and I’m glad I did too.

How I Found The  Book …

I enjoyed it so much that I keep replaying the audio over and over and it has become one of my firm, ever comforting, favourites that I play when I need to find peace amid the pain. It just soothes me.
