uncovering ME : rediscovery …

I have started a 52 week course with Daily OM called A Year of Writing to Uncover the Authentic Self and I hope you will join me by reading the posts that are born from this course.

They can be found under the mind * body * soul category as a subcategory entitled ‘uncovering ME …’.

I have wanted to write my own story for such a long time and I have never done it. The reason for this I am sure will be discovered and discussed through the 52 posts to follow.

So please join me …

. . . uncovering ME . . .
. . .  rediscovery  . . .

introduction …

I will be using this space to free write and post my unedited thoughts, words, and scribbles. So, I am sure there may be errors that appear in the text. I do not need you to tell me about these errors as this will all be part of the process and I hope you can look past this.

rediscovery …

How much time do you spend reminiscing about “the good old days?” Thoughts of the past can bring us pleasure — remembering the fun times, or reliving a “once in a lifetime” experience, really relishing in the joy, excitement, or contentment the activity or event gifted us.

As you go through the prompts this week, search for the moments that made you feel this way, and once you’re done, figure out a way to recreate the activity or find an event that could make you feel that way again. For example, if you had an amazing experience with friends at a concert, check out some of the live entertainment in your area, or if you had a once in a lifetime trip that you loved perhaps it’s time to start planning another. Let the dreaming begin!

Questions/Prompts to Guide Your Writing:

find a photo you love from your past …

study it more closely than you ever have before … look at all the elements in the expression of people’s faces, what makes up the background, etc … try to remember the way you felt, all the sensory details of that moment (smell, noises, weather, etc.) … write about it … why does this photo in particular stand out … are you experiencing any unexpected emotions as you recall the details …

MiA …

when was the last time you “played?” …

what did you do … how did it feel …

MiA …

do you actively seek out fun and fulfillment — just for you …

what do you think that would look like …

MiA …

what kinds of imagining games did you play as a kid …

(for example, I used to become a great treasure hunter in the trees around my house) … why was it fun …

MiA …

do you have a keepsake box …

if so, tell us a story about one of the items …

MiA …

do an internet search with something like “list of fun activities” …

pick one and go do it! … when you’re done, write about it …

MiA …

… without health, life is not life; …
… it is only a state of languor …
… and suffering-an image of death …
… François Rabelais …

My birth name is Denise, but I’m know as Bella to those who love me. I have a first class honours degree in education & psychology and a strong passion to keep learning and educating others ... I have severe ME/CFS and lots of other chronic illnesses and I started this blog as an expansion to my instagram page, where I advocate for chronic illness. I am married and have two grown up boys, or should I say young men. I have three gorgeous grandchildren, one boy and two girls. And despite being chronically sick and housebound I am mostly happy. 🥰
